What is Residential Dementia Care?

Dementia can result in a change to the way in which you perceive the world.

Dementia can affect transformations to the way you remember, feel, behave and communicate. As a result, there may come a time when your loved one is finding it increasingly difficult to live independently at home even with support from professional carers, family or friends. Residential Dementia care offers a secure environment where loved ones can experience the well-being and fulfilment that reflects their own choices, with fully-trained staff always on hand 24 hours a day to offer care and assistance when needed.

Specialist Dementia Care at Osborne House

Every day we aim to enrich the lives of our family members who are entrusted to our care. Our ethos is based around the understanding that we put the resident first, recognising their individual needs, rights and preferences.

Our extensive health and well-being activities program is carefully designed to accommodate each resident’s interests and pastimes. A wide range of meals are made fresh daily by our chefs, all of whom share the same passion for locally sourced high-quality home cooked cuisine. We understand what a challenging time the transition to residential dementia care can be, entrusting the care of your loved one to others. Our regular relative events held in a relaxed environment can help to acknowledge and share those experiences, as well as assist in shaping the future of care at Osborne House. Our daily mantra is enriching lives together – by involving residents, relatives and staff into our dementia care family we can ensure every individual experiences the highest quality of life.

Key Information

We accept both self-funded and state-funded residents. However, Local Authority funding often do not cover the full care costs of the care home. This may well mean a third party will need to provide top-up funding to cover the full costs.  Please see our leaflet on funding your care with us. Age UK also produce a factsheet on paying for residential care.

We are a residential care home specialising in dementia care. With stunning views across the Severn Estuary, Osborne House retains many of its original Victorian features. We have 32 registered beds, 12 of which have en-suite or wet room facilities. Every room has a sink basin and access to further facilities are located just outside the room.

Room rates range from £800. Included in these rates are fully trained staff in 24 hours attendance, all meals using fresh local produce where possible, in house laundry service, nurse call system, daily wellbeing activities. Additional services such as private chiropody and hairdressing will incur supplementary charges.

Self-funding, top up or service user rates are charged four weeks in advance and payable by cheque, bacs or regular standing order.  Our room rates are reviewed on an annual basis as set out under the terms of the contract. We provide you with at least 28 days notice in writing of these changes.
