'Osborne House came highly recommended to our family and we were not disappointed when we visited for the first time. We were looking for a ‘Home’ – somewhere that would provide the care needed for our Mum but also involve her in everyday activities to stimulate her and give her variety and a sense of belonging. In essence, this is what Osborne House does so well – it creates a real family environment where each and every person not only cares for the individual but also provides love and friendship. As a family, we know we made the right choice for Mum and we are, and will always be, indebted to the wonderful staff who are the heartbeat of this fantastic Home and love our Mum as their own. 'Our initial approach to Osborne House to provide one day a week respite care for my Father who suffers with Alzheimer’s, was met with warmth and enthusiasm and the subsequent introductory tour was most enlightening. Staff were diligent and proactive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them or their managers – questions we all must have when considering such a step for our loved ones, were answered honestly and openly and this has remained so in the intervening period. Caring is their greatest strength!
There are plenty of activities on offer to help stimulate the people they support; music, games, gardening to name but a few as well as reminiscing sessions on a group and one to one basis. Even spending time in the large conservatory at the front of the building watching ships sail up and down the channel was rewarding for him. It always seemed a wrench for him when the time came for him to leave at the end of the day.
Mandy and her team have spent a great deal of time and effort in developing the home since he started his visits and we have been so impressed with the service that, when the time came for full time care, we had no hesitation in seeking permanent accommodation there for him.'

Our approach to wellbeing
Our central belief has always been that activities are fundamental to enriching people’s lives. Ensuring that a range of activities are on offer for all interests and abilities has a far-reaching positive effect both on the mind and the body.
With our amazing in-house activity co-ordinators collaborating with the care team seven days a week, we can ensure there is always something that will stimulate each resident, to be inspired and fulfilled. Many of these can be meaningful activities based around everyday living, such as cooking or gardening. They can be dynamic activities such as our yoga and music sessions, indoor bowling and golf. Or they can be more serene centred around art, reading and reminiscence therapy.
Osborne House is designed in such a way that activities are set up in a number of our lounges including the ever-popular conservatory with views over the Severn Estuary. This allows choice based on both individual and collective requests and interests.
Wellbeing through innovation
Our focus on innovation and technology enables us to push the boundaries of high quality dementia care. We meticulously research every potential innovative addition to the home, to ensure it will enhance the lived experience.
We were one of the first care homes in the country to purchase an interactive magic table (see a video here). A fun care innovation that connects older people on their dementia journey with each other and with their surroundings though infrared technology.
Our newly installed acoustic monitoring system ensures immediate assistance for those in their rooms, and has been proven to reduce the likelihood of falls, helps identify changes in condition, and improves the quality of sleep & daytime wellbeing.
All the care plans and daily records including individual and collective activities as well as medication administration are maintained and updated through our online Care&Clinical system. Our handheld devices allow for instant recording of any actions by the care team, building a 24 hour care record for everyone at Osborne House.

Respite and Day Care at Osborne House
As a day care visitor or as a respite resident, you immediately become part of the Osborne family, enjoying all that we have to offer including our extensive activity program incorporating musical and physical therapy, yoga, outings, and make a wish events to name just a few.
We can also offer either a bath or shower, a visit to our on-site hair salon and pamper room (specific days only, additional charges apply) and of course enjoy a choice of high quality home cooked lunch options and refreshments throughout the day. At Osborne House we offer a complimentary ‘taster day’ for anyone considering using our day care services.

Our home is in an enviable location, with stunning views across the Severn Estuary. Our substantial conservatory helps facilitate the connection with the outdoors, whether its bird watching, or enjoying the boats navigating along the Estuary. Views such as these can support reminiscence therapy around seaside memories, as well as create a calming environment to sit and relax.
